If we absolutely must invade and occupy foreign countries, say to protect our way of life and all, I have a suggestion.
I suggest that every family in the occupied country, say Iraq, be matched with an American family. The American family would get photos, bios, emails. You could send them care packages and they’d send you news and post cards and things. That way when the children become orphans, you could explain to them that the reason they can’t have parents is to protect our way of life.
Excellent idea. In cases where it’s the parents who lose their children, you might want to accompany the explanation with an extra-snazzy gift basket.
