I Can’t Wait for Wireless Streaming Audio July 9, 2005

Sitting at my PC, I often listen to internet radio — Mainly the Launchcast music service from Yahoo — which allows me to connect to their sevrer and receive music based on my preferences. It works great — audio quality, content selection. It’s nice that I cannot control it like a playlist. I actually enjoy that aspect of it. But that I can set ratings for titles and artists, and so forth.

So far this is a PC-centric sort of service. Occasionally I have wired my PC to my home stereo to listen to this radio over the stereo. This also works fine.

Now I have this Treo 650 phone, which has storage space sufficient for MP3 storage, plus has internet functionality. So when can I marry these features to the Yahoo Launchcast thing, such that from my phone I can sit there and listen to music streamed in? Like the old trasmitter radio of old, but based on my specific preferences? Why should I even have to store a ton of MP3 files on my phone? I’d rather just get content wirelessly streamed in anyway.

I can’t wait for that.
