It’s all well and good to search for the product you want on-line, and deal with the shipping cost of that. But it would also be nice to know if the same product is already available at a local store. That would be a nice ecommerce search tool. Search for product X by zip code, and it would list all the stores in the area which offer that item or similar, and the inventory status. Of course it means all the local retailers have expose their inventories to the world. Would it kill them?
I’m looking for this:
Hybrid Headset/Headphones for Treo 650
But I’d like to know if I can find them locally to avoid the shipping charges, and if I can beat the price. But there’s no way to do that without driving around town.
