Novel idea:

it’s like a Stockholm syndrome wearing off.

We start with a woman who is married and gleefully spending her dead ex-husband’s money, along with her lover. They share a guilty pleasure in having profitted from the husband’s demise, which they together orchestrated and executed. They are rish, spoiled, selfish and sinful murderers, getting away with it.

The revelation of the murderous past is revealed slowly.

But the woman also feels weird and confused and uncertain abouyt her memory, so perhaps enters therapy.

In the course of therapy, or under the influence of drugs or hypnosis, she slowly begins to recall the events differently, until eventually she and we realize that in fact, she was NOT a willing participant in the murder of her husband. She never was the shallow, materialistic person she is trying to act out now. In fact, the lover was behind the whole thing. He was obsessed with her. She was happily married, or maybe not so happily, but had no intention of leaving her husband.

The lover moves in, obsessed and charming, cunning and wicked. Somehow kidnaps the couple, murders the husband, convinces the wife she really wanted it this way, they marry, he shares the wealth, and she starts to live according to the lover’s narrative, her memory of the facts obliterated by guilt, shame, fear.

I think there’s a Lifetime screenplay in it.

This idea is copyright me, this year, dammit.
