The Unearned Pistachio October 28, 2006
Posted by Phineas in : Irrelevant , trackbackSpeaking of nuts…
You’re eating pistachios, a bowlfull, roasted, salted, in the shell. After a few minutes your finger tips and fingernails start wearing down. It’s painful but you cannot stop. Then, down in the pile, you see it — the lone nut. No shell, just resting there, hard to see. It’s the unearned pistachio. With no effort and little fanfare, you accept the unearned pistachio as a boon. You did not work for it — it was a gift, a blessing, a bonus.
